Amorepacific Develops AI-Based Skin Diagnosis System Dr. Amore®

THE WHAT?  South Korean cosmetics company Amorepacific Corp. has announced the creation of Dr. Amore®, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based skin diagnosis system. The development of this technology was detailed in a paper published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science.

THE DETAILS  Dr. Amore® uses deep learning AI, trained on skin images of Korean women and expert evaluations, to diagnose skin concerns like wrinkles, pigmentation, pores, and red spots from photos. Amorepacific’s Research & Innovation (R&I) Center conducted a study using this system to observe skin ageing trends. This study analysed facial images of 120 Korean women across a wide age range and found significant skin changes occurring primarily between the ages of 20 and 30.

THE WHAT? The development of Dr. Amore® aims to provide immediate and accurate skin condition diagnoses, an important aspect of personalised skincare. The system’s insights into age-related skin changes are intended to inform the creation of more effective skincare products. Amorepacific’s investment in AI technology for skincare diagnosis reflects a broader trend in the cosmetics industry towards personalised, data-driven skincare solutions.
